Smoking Essay

It is very important to stop smoking because it can be harmful. Smoking is horrible for you because it can affect your body in many ways, it causes harmful diseases, and it can affect your social life. Some diseases could even kill you. Smoking could end your life or ruin what you have left of it.

It affects your body in many different ways. You can get yellow teeth and bad breath from smoking. These are things I am sure you don't want to have. Yellow fingernails from the smoke looks like buttery popcorn. It will look ugly and messy when you want to look nice. Tar builds up in your lungs and makes them all black. When you don't get enough cigarettes, your body can tell. People can shake and shiver when they don't get the amount of nicotine they are used to. You can look gross when you don't get as much as you usually do.

Another reason to stop smoking is because you can get diseases, and most likely will, if you keep at it. You can get heart disease, which can kill you. You could also get emphysema, or any other disease like that. Emphysema is a disease that does damage to your lungs. Cancer of the mouth, cheek or tongue can get quite serious. You could have many problems because of that. Throat cancer is also a very serious cancer that could cause death. Some people believe that smoking can give you asthma, too. Asthma is like being smothered by a blanket.

My last reason for you to stop smoking is your social life. It will be harder for your best friends when you smoke. You can hurt people around you with second-hand smoke, and that could also drive your friends away. If you are smoking to try to get into a group that is "cool," you should think about whether they are going to actually be your friend. You would be giving up your other friends to be with some people who might not be that nice or friendly.

Now that you have heard my reasons, I hope that you think your choices over carefully, and try to stop smoking. Smoking isn't a smart thing to do. It can affect your body in different ways, cause life-threatening diseases, and hurt your social life. There isn't really anything to be gained by smoking. It isn't too late to stop!
