| Dear Aylssa:
I'm sorry to have to write this letter, but I feel it is important I tell you this. I know you smoke, and you need to stop! You were always a cool friend and I always wanted to be just like you, you were my role model. Now after I learned this I'm not so sure any more. I hope this letter changes your mind. Smoking really affects your body you can get a lot of fatal diseases. Did you know that every time you smoke, you lose seven to ten minutes of life? Remember your grandfather? You told me that he was smoking for 60 years? He had to have lost a lot of minutes of his life. I know you probably think that a few minutes won't do anything to you, but those mintues can add up after years of smoking. Also you can get addicted if you ever decide to quit, you can't as easily. You remember your aunt and uncle when they tried to stop? Remember the hard time they had? You don't want to have that problem do you? Also your heart rate increases. I know this doesn't sound important but it really is. I know I wouldn't want my heart beating as fast as a hummingbbird. Smoking doesn't make you look cool or anything. Instead you will have discolored fingernails. I know you could just paint over this color, but what if you forget? You will also have yellow disgusting teeth. That's not going to make you cool like you wanted to be . It will make people think that you don't brush your teeth. You don't want people to think that, believe me! You will have such bad breath that no mint could stop it. Remember your favorite shirt? Well if you smoke your clothes will smell like they came out of a trashcan. Also, you won't have a lot of money after you smoke for a while. That means no more new clothes. You'll probably be as poor as a street person. Cigarettes have harmful ingredients. The substance used to preserve dead animals, the stuff in nail polish remover, and tar is in cigarettes. There is much more than that in cigarettes. Doesn't that sound disgusting? That's just what I thought. Just thin about it. It really isn't worth it. PLEASE STOP SMOKING! If you do stop, you'll be doing it for me! Your best friend, Sara |
